Community Involvement
- Operation Round Up
- Helping those in our area in need.
- Highway Pick-up
- VEC sponsors a 2-mile section of highway from Westby, WI, north to Hegge Rd. VEC employees
and their families volunteer their time to keep this section of highway clean.
- Member Picnics
- Three times a summer VEC holds Member Appreciation Picnics at different locations in our service
territory. Members are treated to a free supper, cooked and served by VEC employees and directors.
Watch your newsletter that comes with your electric bill for times and dates or click on the "Current
News" button in the left column as the summer months approach.
- Employees involved in organizations
- It is Vernon Electric Cooperative's policy to encourage employees to be involved in community
organizations. VEC has employees that are, or have been, involved in Lions, Optimists, Kiwanis,
and Rotary. We also have many employees that volunteer their time and resources to coaching,
conservation organizations, city government, church council and other church activities.
- Food Pantry Donations
- Vernon Electric Cooperative employees voluntarily donate money to our local food pantry each
time they are served lunch during employee meetings that are held several times a year.
- Open House
- October is National Co-op Month. To celebrate we have an Open House sometime in the month of
October. Watch your newsletter for dates and time. Our Open House usually consists of free
refreshments, prizes, gifts, tours, displays, blood pressure testing, and rural well water
nitrate screening.
